The DRC Government is applying for a grant to carry out a flood and landslide recovery and resilience-building project in Kinshasa. Floods have remained a significant problem in Kinshasa since 1908. The recent flood on the nights of 12th and 13th December 2022 caused major destruction in the city once again. A reactive approach to flood disasters will not work anymore. So, the government will be working with other NGOs and organizations in Kinshasa to help people recover from the flood. Moreover, we will integrate practices in recovery that will reduce the destruction from floods in the future. The government will provide information about flood-resistant housing designs and promote the constructions of these houses that can withstand floods. The recent flood took the lives of over 100 people. It is essential to act quickly and establish disaster-recovery practices to help the people of the city. The recovery project will include reconstructing and repairing damaged housing and restoring the infrastructure so normality can restore in Kinshasa.
